Out of the Fog … Bridge Run April
10, 2011
Our stalwart IRR
members are notorious for running through anything. The morning of Laura’s 3rd
annual Bridge Run was challenging and eerie. Heavy fog filled the air as
members gathered in the driveway for a soupy run down
to the free bridge. Carolyn Wyson
(hobbled by a broken ankle) took group pictures and some intriguing shots of us
slipping into the fog. These pictures will surely end up in our club video
montage (read on).
Upon returning, members
enjoyed a tasty breakfast repast in Laura’s lovely home. Healthy
fruit salad and cool whip filled many a hungry runner along with bagels, donuts,
and more.
Thanks Laura for providing us with this annual early spring
event. It gives us a chance to socialize and declare an end to this
interminable winter season.
Memorial Day
Race: May 30, 2011
The great day of remembrance is nearing. Celebrating the
heroes of this great country we turn our attention to what makes this nation
one of exquisite pride. We salute our veterans, current military serving our
needs, and the countless fallen heroes of our rich history. Memorial Day is special to all of us.
So too is our clubs Big Race Day. Director Greg Everal will
make sure everything is in place for another highly successful event. This
endeavor will take all our efforts to make it happen. We want to retain the
distinction of a Top Fifty running event. From shirts to equipment, medals to
food, and a pair of courses secured to help our runners have a most enjoyable
day. This is our clubs day to shine. Please be aware of the following:
-
Inform
Greg, Neil Keller, or the officers of your wish to volunteer for a job
- Please
donate a quantity of baked goods race day morning. (Cookie cop Kevin Gilday
will remind you by phone)
- Be
aware that a tasty lunch will be provided for race workers after we clean up.
Arlene and Tom Kalis invite us to their home. Their hospitality is
extraordinary.
- Finally,
know that this is our clubs only fundraiser. We generate the money to provide
for the many fun things we do.
IRR Website new and
improved:
Have you seen it? Thanks to the initiative of Eve Howell, we
have a spectacular IRR website. Photos of members, information about what we
do, and a dynamic look for the IRR makes this site a unique reflection of our
organization. Nice job Eve!
Dues did I say “dues”?
If you haven’t paid
your $10.00 or know of someone who would like to join, now’s the time. Don’t
miss out on tailgate treats, solstice picnic and run, the
annual banquet, and more.
Pictures say it all: Club videography is coming
The IRR has commissioned a professional team of videographers
to create a lasting montage of club memories. A DVD is being created which will
allow us to reflect on the faces and events of Island
Roadrunner history. This spectacular video will be shown annually at the
holiday banquet starting this year NOVEMBER 26 (save the date). We need all the
photos you have or will take this year. You can email digital photos to Laura twl625@hotmail.com, or hand to Josie, Gary, or Tim
Someone must have the club album with priceless
images of the IRR history – if you have this, please pass it on to
Tim of Laura. Let’s help make this
professional grade video a rich, entertaining keepsake of who we are. October
first is the strict deadline for all pictures. Let’s do it!!!
